Be Wild, Be You

I'm so excited to be a part of a brand new Coloring Team at Lacy Sunshine. Things have been kept Top Secret, even from the team so I'm not sure of all the details but I know it's going to be fun! There are some fabulously talented people on this team and we'll be sharing our coloring with you in more detail.

Today we are having our first Design Team Showcase. I used the Rory- It's a Jungle image from All About Rory Coloring Set 4 and colored it with Spectrum Noir Markers.

For the background I used a piece of green Shimmer Cardstock that I stenciled some stripes on with Gel Medium. I added crystal glitter to the bottom stripes.  The leaves were cut on the Silhouette and the ribbon is just from my stash.

Head on over to the newly updated Lacy Sunshine blog to see more Design Team Projects.

Scrapper's Delights Comic Book Style

There's a fun new challenge at the Scrapper's Delights Facebook Fanpage today, with a really fun freebie. It's some nifty Comic Templates. These were so  much fun to work with! I used a bunch of Scrapper's Delights images, including Kyoko Superhero 5, Kyoko Superhero 6, Kyoko Superhero 7 and some of the elements from the Comic Word Art Set

I laid out the images in Photoshop and then printed it out as an 8x8 square. I colored the images with Spectrum Noir Markers and Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens.

For the background I took a piece of black cardstock that I had cut down to 10x10. I added some texture to it with a stencil and clear gloss gel. I splattered some Lindy's Stamp Gang mists over that. I also cut some shapes on my Silhouette and sprayed them with the same mist. I then adhered these to the black cardstock. I matted the coloring with some purple cardstock and attached it to the background.

This project was so much fun and a lot different from the things I normally make. I plan on hanging it up in my craftroom.

For Deacon

I fell in love with this image called Buds from Mo's Digital Pencil as soon as I saw it. My little guy lays on our dog like this all the time. I used it to make a little sign for his bedroom door.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Markers. And that fur! Oh the fur. That was a bit of work, but well worth it I think. I added some Wood Veneer letters and stars that I had covered in Stickles. I matted it on a piece of green cardstock and another piece of thicker, sturdier cardstock. Then I punched some holes in it and added a bit of Baker's Twine for hanging.

My little guy loved it and was really excited to hang it up. He also likes to carry it around so I think I'm going to have to hang it higher so his little hands can't reach it!

Get Well Wishes & A Special Thank You Too

Today I just wanted to share a couple of cards I made last week while my oldest was in the hospital for a ruptured appendix.

The first one is a card I made for him. I used two of my favorite images from Some Odd Girl. I used Pajama King Tobie and Sweater Pup.  My son's favorite color is orange so I added a lot of orange to the card. I wanted it be bright and cheerful so the bright, almost neon green really did the trick.

This next card is one that I made to give to the nurses that took such good care of him while he was at the hospital. They were all so nice and did such a great job with him. I used the image Super Mae, also from Some Odd Girl.

Again, I used orange. Since the card was to be from Zach I wanted to use his favorite color. I had a hard time deciding what color to use with it and ended up going with black, which added the challenge of not making it look like a Halloween card. I think I succeeded. I added some ribbon and rhinestones and lots of patterned papers from my stash. The nurses loved it and hung it right up in the nurses station so that all of his nurses from the week would be able to see it.

Both cards were colored with Spectrum Noir Markers. Here are the colors I used:

Mae Card: FS2 FS4 FS9 TN4 EB5 TN7 TN5 OR3 OR2 GB3 IG10 IG8 IG6 EB3 EB2 Clear Sparkle Pen, Black Diamond Stickles

Tobie Card: FS2 FS4 FS9 TN4 TB5 TB3 EB3 EB2 EB1 EB5 TN7 TN5 OR3 OR2 GB3 CR1 DG3 CG2 CG1 IG8 IG6 IG5 IG3

I would like to enter the Mae Card in the Some Odd Girl Linky Party as well as in the following challenges:

Sympathy Cards

I never like to make Sympathy cards, especially at the time they're needed. They're no fun. So I like to keep a few of these on hand for those times.

IMAG0710RESIZE

On these cards I used Cotton Candy, Gumdrop Green and Hot Fudge Pop Tones Cardstocks and Neenah Solor White Cardstock.

I embossed the white background with a pretty floral pattern and matted it on a piece of colored cardstock. I made the sentiment in Photoshop and then used the Silhouette machine to cut it out. I also used the Silhouette to cut a piece of colored cardstock to go around the label. I added a plain white ribbon and a small flower with a silver brad to finish it off.

Happy New Year 2016

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Today I am sharing a card I made with the Bugaboo Stamps image called JJ Calendar Months January.  I make my sister a New Year's card with this image every year. It's kind of fun to challenge myself to make something different with the same image each year. I always end up with black and gold though.

I used the Night Sky Background effect with the Spectrum Aqua Markers. Then I colored JJ with Spectrum Noir markers. On her dress I used the sequins technique I learned in the Kit & Clowder Clothing Class.

I cut the "2016" on the Silhouette out of some glittered cardstock. I matted that and the image on some gold vellum from the Paper Temptress.

Spectrum Aquas used: Charcoal, Black, Navy and Orchid
