Lacy Sunshine Back To School Challenge {Guest Designer}

There's a new challenge at the Lacy Sunshine Challenge blog today. I am so excited to be the Guest Designer for this challenge.

The theme is Back to School. Just in time, my kids start school tomorrow! I have mixed feelings about it this year as I have 2 starting preschool.

For my card I used the Kenna - Back to School image from Lacy Sunshine. I colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers (palette below), and used background papers from my stash. I also cut out the Back to School sentiment in glitter paper with my Silhouette. I really do love that glitter paper.

Here are some close up photos of the card and the color palette.

Blend Of The Week #5 {Dark Ice Grey}

So I missed posting my Blend of the Week last week. Like every other family we have been busy getting ready for back to school. The kids start on Monday and I think and hope we have everything we need!

The Blend of the week this week is Dark Ice Grey. This time I used it color the Birthday Elephant image from Drawn Together.

The color blend from darkest to lightest is IG7 IG5 IG4 IG3

This is a great grey blend that can be used for lots of different things.

Have a great day!

Hello Teacher Card

It's that time of year again. The kids are going back to school! I have 2 starting Preschool this year, and my son will be going into the 4th grade.

I always make a little gift for the teacher at the beginning of the school year, and this year I had 4 teachers to make gifts for! (There are 2 Pre-K teachers).

This is the card I made for one of the Pre-K teachers. I also made her a set of note cards - I'll be posting those next week.

On this card I used Teacher's Pet Tia from Some Odd Girl. I colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers (palette below) and 3D decopaged her. I cut the apple on my Silhouette machine and the "hello" was a die-cut. I added Glossy Accents and stickles to the apples and Glossy Accents to the sentiment, I love how the embellishments turned out on this.

Here is the pin-able color palette:

*The correct name of this image is Teacher's Pet Tia*

This week the challenge is Lots of Layers!

I colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers (palette below) and used some papers from my stash to make the layers. I also used a piece of  the white iridescent vellum from the Paper Temptress. It is so pretty in real life, couldn't get a great photo of it though.

Weird and Whimsical Challenge at Lacy Sunshine

The current challenge at Lacy Sunshine is "Weird and Whimsical", I thought that might be the perfect time to try out some more Mixed Media.

I used the image "Belinda Unicorn Girl". I colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers. I added some Glossy Accents to her unicorn horn. On the background I used some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays. Then I used a stencil and some clear gloss gel to add some texture. Then I added some more sprays. The sprays easily wipe off the gloss gel so the green was still visible where I had stenciled. I finished it off with a stamp from Unity Stamp Company,

Here are some more pictures of the background I created.

I will be entering this project in the Weird and Whimsical challenge at Lacy Sunshine

Back to School

Can you believe it's that time already? Back to school! Yippee! OK, I still have 4 at home, but it's always nice to get the school year started. Hoping 4th Grade is better for my son than 3rd Grade was. He got good grades but had some struggles with one of the teachers.

To get you pumped for the new school year we are in the middle of a Back to School Challenge at Aloha Friday.  And we have a great sponsor this time around- Bugaboo Stamps

I used the Ava School Sign It 2 image.  I made a folder to keep some of my daughter's papers in. We are planning on homeschooling and starting Kindergarten this year, but she is pretty much begging to go to school like her big brother. So she may be going to pre-K instead. If she does, I'll just have to pop a Pre-K label on the folder instead!

I colored Ava with my Spectrum Noir markers. I added Madison's name in the Silhouette studio before I printed the image. I could have cut this out on the Silhouette too but I was a dope and cut it out by hand instead. I used a clear gel adhesive to adhere it to the folder. I painted it on the back with a paintbrush to make sure I got a smooth and even coat.

Head on over to the Aloha Friday Blog to get more back to school ideas and enter for your chance to win the prize from our great sponsor.

Little Fairy {Saturated Canary}

So I'm pretty sure we've all seen the new "Little Fairy" image from Saturated Canary. So so cute. I was lucky enough to get her as a freebie and was so excited to color her.

I kept the card clean and simple so the image was really the main focus. I colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers (pin-able palette below) and added a printed sentiment and a bunch of little rhinestones. I also backed the image with a piece of green cardstock to break up thewhite background a little bit.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Coloring Tin With Spectrum Noir Markers

I am so excited (and a bit nervous) that my first post is on the Spectrum Noir blog today! I am still a little shocked that I was asked to be a part of this team. I am beyond thrilled to be sharing my love of Spectrum Noir markers as part of the team.

For my post this month, I got to revisit an older tutorial. I chose the Coloring Tin Tutorial.

I fell in love with this image from Saturated Canary as soon as I saw her. She makes me think of my girls playing at the beach.

For the full tutorial and the color list breakdown, check out the Spectrum Noir blog.  Below you will find the pin-able color palette.

Other Materials Used:
-Paper from the Paper Temptress
-Sentiment Stamp from Unity Stamp Company
-Watercolor Paints

Tic-Tac-Toe Incy Wincy Style

I was very excited for this challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. It's a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge! I think these are so much fun. Here's the board we are working with this week:

We are being sponsored by A Day for Daisies this week. I used the image Little Dancer Two and chose the middle column for my Tic-Tac-Toe: Monochrome, FREE, Lace and/or Ribbon.

 I colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers and added lots of flowers and lace. The background was embossed on the Cuttlebug and the wood veneer piece is one I've had in my stash for a really long time.

Coloring On Kraft With Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils

Today I am sharing a little project I made with one of the many great tutorials over on the Spectrum Noir blog. This one was a very simple way to color on Kraft paper with The Spectrum Noir Colored Pencils. I even made a little speed coloring video for you too. I'm new to videos, so this was kind of an experiment for me. Enjoy!

I used one of my favorite Unity Stamps on this card, it's called Rain or Shine. I stamped it on the Kraft paper with Versamark and then used a white embossing powder over it. Once it cooled I went to coloring. I used the Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils 5, 12, 14, 17, 36, 41, 42, 64, 71, 116.

After coloring I blended the colors with a little bit of Gamsol.

I finished the card off with some ribbon from my stash, some enamel hearts and a heart pin. The striped background paper is from the Paper Temptress

I will be linking this card up with the Unity Stamp Company Friends with Flair

Blend Of The Week #4 {Skin Tone #2}

Hey everyone, sorry this post is a little late tonight. It's been one of those weeks. I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing. Back to school stress. Anyway- here is this week's blend.

It's another skin tone, slightly darker than the previous one I posted. I like to use this one when coloring a person who might have a little bit of a tan, like this mermaid from Tiddly Inks.

It is the same as the previous blend but with the addition of TN3 in the darkest areas. From darkest to lightest the blend is TN3 TN2 FS9 FS4 FS2.

August Spotlight at Kitty Bee Designs

Hey hey! Today I am up on the Kitty Bee Designs Blog. This month I made two cards featuring Ninja Kal-Bee. I think this image is so funny!

My son has a birthday this month and he is really into the color orange and he likes Ninjas and karate and stuff so I thought this would make a great card for him.

This next card was made for a little boy in out neighborhood who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. When he was asked what makes him happy, he said mail. So I plan to send him a crad every month or so. They say he'll be in treatments for at least 3 years.  I hope he gets a kick out of the Ninja cow too.

I colored both images with my spectrum noirs, and used coordinating glitter papers on each one. The stars were all cut on my Silhouette.
