Happy Birthday Mimi!

Today I am sharing the card I made for my Mother-in-law for her birthday.

I used the Bronte Birthday image from Mo's Digital Pencil and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers and Spectrum Noir sparkle pens.

I tried to make the dog look a little like my mother-in-law's dog, Missy. Missy hates me, but I know my mother-in-law loves her so why not make a card inspired by her, lol.

The papers used on this card are from The Paper Temptress and the ribbon is from Stampin' Up.

The 12 Tags of Christmas with Scrapper's Delights {Bonus: Tutorial}

Today I am sharing the tag I made for the Scrapper's Delights 12 Tags of Christmas. This tag can also be used as an ornament after the gift is opened.  I made this using the Fuse tool and a plain page protector.

I have a little tutorial on how I made this tag. I used the image Willie - Snow Angel from Scrapper's Delights.

The first thing I did was open the image in the Silhouette Studio and used the trace tool to create a cut line around the image. I then used the Mirror option to duplicate the image. This way I could glue the 2 peices together so you would be able to see the penguin on both sides of the tag.

After I cut the images on the Silhouette I colored them with Spectrum Noir Markers. Then I adhered the backs of the pieces together to create the two-sided image that would go inside the tag. I used Liquitex clear gloss gel to adhere the pieces, but any glue would work. I like to use the gloss gel for things like this because I am able to get a nice smooth, even coat and it holds really well.

Next I traced the shape of the tag around the image on the page protector.

I used the fuse tool and followed the trace lines, leaving an opening with enough room to add the sequins and the colored image.

After I had the 2 layers fused together (with the opening still there) I cut just between the fuse line and the pen line.  Then I added the sequins and the image and fused the opening closed.

The final step was to punch a hole in the top and add a string or ribbon for hanging.

Spectrum Noir December Challenge

Happy December!

It's time for a new challenge with Spectrum Noir. The theme this month is Clean and Simple.

I struggle with Clean and Simple so I tried my best to keep this one simple.

The image I used is Kidz Reindeer from Bugaboo Stamps. I colored him with Spectrum Noir Markers (palette below) and finished the card off with some ribbons and papers from my Christmas stash.

Christmas Penguins

Just sharing another Christmas card today. It's almost here! I made this card with the Little Penguin Winter- Decorating Tree image from Bugaboo Stamps.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Markers and added some of the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens to the hats and ornaments but that didn't show up in the picture. In real life it really sparkles a lot though. I also used some Stickles to make the snow.

The papers are all from my Christmas stash, these ones are really old, Still trying to use it all up and clear out some of this stuff over here.

The 12 Tags of Christmas {Bonus: Tutorial}

It's my turn to share a Christmas tag with you for the Scrapper's Delights 12 Tags of Christmas. My tag could also be used as an Ornament after the gift giving.

Here is the tag I made with the image Anna Mae Season's Greetings from Scrapper's Delights.

And here is a tutorial so you can make some of these for your Christmas gifts too.

STEP 1: Open the image in the Silhouette Studio, Use the trace feature and the offset feature to create an outline of the image. Add a small crcle to top of the image outline, overlapping them slightly. Merge these two objects and then place a smaller circle in the center of the first circle, this will be the are to add your string or ribbon,

STEP 2: Align your image with the outline and then resize the objects to your desired size. Duplicate the outline to create the layers, the more layers the thicker the tag. I like to use about 6-8 layers.

STEP 3: Place the image back into one of the outlines. Print and cut the image and all the additional layers.

Once you have all your layers cut out, you'll need to glue them together. Be sure to color the top layer before adhering it to the rest of the layers.

Any glue will work, but when I'm doing this type of project I like to use Liquitex Clear Gloss Gel. I just apply it with a paintbrush, it gives a nice smooth bond between the layers.

After gluing on the top layer, I like to add a little bit of the gloss around the edges to seal them, it just helps to keep the layers from peeling apart.

Coat the entire surface with Glossy Accents and let it dry over night.  Apply a layer of Glossy Accents to the back once the front has dried. I also like to coat the back with glitter, but that's up to you. After that dries, I spray a clear sealant over the glitter to keep it from flaking off later on.

Tie a ribbon through and add your tag to your gift.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have fun making your own layered tags.

Classic Christmas Colors

Today I am sharing a card I made with the stamp set called Grace from Crafter's Companion. I used the traditional red and green on this card. I tried to use as few other colors as I could to keep it in the traditional Christmas Colors.

I colored her with Spectrum Noir Markers and added some chunky glitter to her wings.

I put my Kit & Clowder clothing class to good use on this one. I love how she turned out! I think these are my best folds yet.

I kept the card fairly simple as I wanted this little fairy to be the main focus of the card. I embossed the bottom half with music notes and added some red ribbon from the Paper Temptress

Bugaboo Stamp's Christmas Chaos Day 7

I can't believe it's the last day of Christmas Chaos already! This week just flew by! Today the challenge was my favorite - Bugaboo Bingo!  Here's a look at the Bingo board for this challenge:

I chose to go with the right hand column- Snowflake, Embossing and Pink & Teal. I used the Freebie Friday image on my card.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and cut the snowflakes on the Silhouette machine.  I also embossed some snowflakes on the background paper. Then I added some stickles to make the snow sparkle.

Here's a little look back at my projects from this week:

I'm so proud that I managed to complete all 7 projects this week!

Christmas With Aloha Friday

I can't believe we are on our last challenge of the year at Aloha Friday Challenges!

On my card I used the Giraffe Lights image, colored with my Spectrum Noir Markers.  The paper and little candy cane are from my Christmas stash.  I also attached a little paper bag behind the image, it would be the perfect place for a gift card!

Stop by the Aloha Friday Challenge blog to enter our Christmas challenge. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Bugaboo Stamps Christmas Chaos Day 6

I can't believe my favorite crafting week of the year is almost over! I have had so much fun using my Bugaboo images and now I have some really great Christmas projects too.

Today the theme of today's Christmas Chaos challenge was to show your wrap. Any gift wrapping or tags, etc.  I made a giftcard holder. It's pretty cool, it can hold 3 giftcards inside.

I colored the Dottie Christmas Shopping image with Spectrum Noir markers and cut the sentiments on the Silhouette from glittered cardstock.

Inside there is space for 3 giftcards.

Bugaboo Stamps Christmas Chaos Day 5

Here I am with Day 5 of Bugaboo Stamp's Christmas Chaos week. Today's theme was to pick a treat and make it funny. Here are the treats I had to pick from:

Gingerbread Cookies - Use 2 Stripes, 3 Brads or Bling, 4 Layers
Sugar Cookies with Sprinkles - Make your card a shape other than Square or Rectangle, 3 pieces of Bling & Ribbon
Homemade Holiday Chocolates - Use ONLY cardstock, no designer papers, Embossing & 2 Layers
Spiked Egg Nog - Use a Border Punch, Glitter & Polka Dots
Candy Canes – Stripes & BLING
Fruit Cake – Make it Funny & use ONLY scraps to create your card

I chose to the Fruit Cake as my treat for the card.  I used the Tropical Santa Suntan image for my card and used scraps I had leftover from my daughter's birthday decorations.

I colored the image in bright colors with my Spectrum Noir markers and added some blue ink for the sky. I added a little Glossy Accents to his glasses and some stickles to his suit and the star.
